Over the past few months, many of us have started to feel the impact of global events much closer to home.
For most households, one of the clearest examples has been the sharp rise in fuel costs. It affects daily errands, commuting, groceries, and, for small businesses like ours, the cost of getting your orders safely from our bakery to your door.
Courier and postal companies have been raising their rates and fuel-related charges in response to these rising transportation costs. As a result, we have had to review our own shipping policy.
At The Moroccan Bakery, we have always tried to make shipping as simple and fair as possible. We know shipping costs are never the exciting part of ordering cookies and sweets — the exciting part is opening the box, sharing it with family, gifting it to someone you love, or setting it out with tea when guests arrive.
That is why we wanted to share this update openly and clearly.
Our Free Shipping Threshold Is Changing
Effective today, May 11, 2026, our free shipping threshold is increasing from $100 to $150.
We know any change like this matters, so we want to be very clear about why it is happening: fuel-related shipping costs have gone up significantly, and courier rates have increased as a result.
This adjustment helps us continue absorbing a meaningful portion of shipping and handling costs while still preparing, packing, and sending your orders with the care, quality, and service you expect from us.
The good news is that the overwhelming majority of our customer orders are already over $150, so most of you should not notice a difference at checkout.
For orders under $150, shipping rates will continue to be shown clearly before you complete your purchase.
U.S. Shipping Rate Update
For our U.S. customers, we are also updating the shipping charge for orders under $150.
Previously, U.S.-bound orders under the free shipping threshold were charged $30 for shipping. That rate is now $35.
Again, this change is tied directly to the rise in fuel-related courier and shipping costs. We have kept the increase as limited as possible while continuing to get your Moroccan sweets to you safely and reliably.
A Smoother U.S. Shipping Experience Is Here!
We also have some very welcome news for our U.S. customers.
In our last update, we shared that new and changing cross-border policies had created a more frustrating experience for some U.S. shipments. Some orders were moving through smoothly, while others were facing delays or unexpected border-related charges.
We were never satisfied with that experience.
Over the past month, we have been testing different ways to send our Moroccan cookies and sweets across the border, and we are happy to share that we have found a much smoother option.
Based on our recent shipments using this updated process, customers have not been charged additional delivery fees at the border.
Even better, the tariffs we are seeing are now quite small — so for now, don’t worry, we’ll cover them.
That means our U.S. customers can order with much more confidence and fewer surprises.
While cross-border policies can always change, our recent shipments have shown a much better experience, and we feel confident sharing this positive update with you.
What This Means for You
Here is the simple version:
Our free shipping threshold has moved from $100 to $150.
U.S. shipping for orders under $150 has moved from $30 to $35.
These shipping changes are a result of rising fuel-related courier and postal costs.
Most customers already order above $150, so most orders should not be affected by the free shipping threshold change.
For U.S. customers, our updated shipping process has shown strong results: no additional border delivery fees on recent shipments, and tariffs are now small enough that we are covering them for the time being.
